Although this hotel was perfectly good for what we wanted and (very importantly)clean, it was quite expensive for very small rooms. The bathroom was good but don't bother taking any cats to swing in the room. If you want a good location out of the drunken Brits abroad places but close enough to get anywhere and still a young/vibrant but more local area I would recommend this hotel for ease. If you are looking for value for money I'm sure you could get somewhere a little more spacious for your money. Also they insist on charging you 20 dollars tourist tax per person when you arrive and you can't say no otherwise you don't have a room. Hmm first I had heard of hotels taxing you for being foreign?!

The hotel was very unfriendly and unhelpful when two of our party of 8 had mislaid their hotel vouchers. Although they were later quite helpful in recommending restaurants. The rooms were too small, only 2-3ft of space around a very uncomfortable bed. Also we were all charged 10 Euros per person as a "city tax" which had to be paid in cash prior to being allowed to check in to our rooms. I have visited Amsterdam many times and I have never been charged such a tax? I have obtained a receipt for the payment, but it is hand written on a hotel compliments slip. I would be grateful if you could confirm this charge is correct and if not I would like our party to be refunded.

We were charged a 20 euro travellers tax which we were not informed about before and on our vouchers it stated that we should not have been charged anything extra. The rooms were very small with limited space but overall clean and well presented.

Top Tip
The hotel is a good location to go out in Leidensplein. Walking distance for the Van Gogh museum and Heinken museum and easy tram access to the central station and red light district.

actually stayed their 6 yrs ago , but didnt realise it was the same hotel , very friendly staff , although the room was rather small

I would definitely recommend this mid/low price hotel. Facilities basic but very adequate for a mid/low price break in a nice part of Amsterdam. Very close to museums and concert hall as well as shopping and other sites. Felt very comfortable as a lone traveller!

1st they gave me a room with twin beds when i paid for a double. Also i asked for a non smoking room. They did change rooms for me but the door wouldn't shut. i had to slam it everytime i wished to use it. the bathroom was too small, you couldn't use the toilet without the door being open.
