The NH Barbizon Palace Hotel is housed behind the restored façades of 19 historic buildings, most of which date from the 17th century. The medium sized lobby conveys a very grand ambience, with its marble columns, checkerboard floor and art deco style furniture. Many of the rooms are located in the restored 17th and 18th century part of the hotel and thus feature original oak beams and rafters. They vary significantly in size and layout, due to the age of the building, but most are medium sized at least, with dark wooden furniture and contrasting patterned fabrics. The "Vermeer" restaurant, decorated in a 17th century style, is quickly becoming a fashionable meeting place for lovers of gourmet food and exclusive dining. The hotel offers a rich Continental buffet breakfast in "Hudson's Terrace", the more informal restaurant. There's also an elegant cocktail lounge with original fireplaces, where guests' can relax after a long day's sightseeing.
