Traditional Dutch cuisine served in the restaurant.
Our Review
Being one of the few privately owned hotels in Amsterdam, De Roode Leeuw boasts a friendly, personal atmosphere. Its roots date back to the 15th century and its location a few steps from Dam Square couldn’t be bettered.
Its roots dating back to the 15th century, the De Roode Leeuw opened as a hotel in 1911 and is one of the few privately owned properties in the city. The lobby offers a soothing, welcoming atmosphere thanks to white tiles, cream décor and spot lighting. However the lobby feels smaller than it actually is, since the majority of the ground floor space is taken up by the café, which boasts oldest covered and heated terrace in Amsterdam. The 79 guestrooms vary in size from small to medium, due to the age of the building. They are elegantly appointed, featuring thick carpets and ample wardrobe space, and offer an extensive array of modern amenities. Located on the ground floor, the hotel’s a-la-carte "De Roode-Leeuw" restaurant overlooks the busy street where one can watch the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. It is celebrated for specialising in Dutch regional dishes.
