My partner reported a stranger right outside our window, which was on the 6060 level, so there is a long wide open balcony area between all the rooms. I made the call to the operator around 11.30 and they said it would be reported to security. Nothing happened. I reported it again the next morning, they had no record of the event. I reported it again to Customer services desk, near the Winter Garden, just took a couple of notes on a bit of scrap paper, and said they would talk to security. We had to leave within 20 mins. Again nothing happened. My partner went along the corridor in the area outside our rooms, to see how access to the roof could happen. But it was dark, and nothing could be seen. She was convinced that there was a stranger hunkered down looking into the room. Our complaint is that nothing was done, no one ever came for details. No concern was shown by anyone. They simply ignored our report.

Don't take the Hotel Security as anything other than fiction.

This hotel was perfect- Right beside the train station and within enjoyable walking distance to pretty much everywhere! It had a lovely atmosphere and a hoppin' bar-albeit an expensive one! Breakfast was unbelievanle-the choice was only tremendous-they left no rock unturned. Highly recommendable to anyone wishing to see the 'Dam! Close to Red Light District, Right in front of Royal Palace, surrounded by bars and restaurants, beside train station, madame tussauds, Near to Anne Franks house etc etc...

Nice place, service very good by Dutch standards which tends to be a bit slow.

try Excelsior Restaurant in Hotel d'Europe - expensive but excellent.

The hotel is locted in the middle of Amsterdam in Dam square 10 minutes from Cental station . On arriving at the hotel we were met by a very friendly porter who showed us to our room, on arriving we notice that they had gave us a twin room to this the porter went straight onto the phone and got us a double ,which was bigger than the twin. On the Saturday night we ate in the restarant , which was great as i have Coeliac. I said to the waiter about my Coeliac went and spoke to the chef who made sure that everything i ate was glutin free . The food was great even the glass of champange that was sent out to me with my sweet . Many thanks to the watiters and the chef

Anne Frank House...Fab, and the Red light District is a must, not as tacky as what i thought!
