Really nice hotel in great location just a minute from rembrandt square and just over the river for the hop on hop off canal trips. The staff were great and very polite. Our room (9) was small for a double but was comfortable none the less.
Top Tip
Visit Anne Franks house it is a must to see, and booking on line saves so much time. Food and drink is not cheap but is very good.5 canal trips in 4 days seems extreme but it is a fantastic way to get around and learn about this fantastic city.

Rooms tiny and very dark. I went with my elderly mother and despite having rung in advance to mention this, our first room was up 4 steep steps with no bannisters. Could not separate the beds without losing the ability to open the wardrobe. Ended up paying for an upgrade to an "executive suite", which seemed to mean that it also had a desk (but still small and dark). It was supposed to have a river view, but only had the top bit of the window from the floor below, so it did if you knelt down! Blank wall from there up. The room on our first night had an incredibly small shower room with very cramped toilet space. Corridors narrow and dark and not that clean (dirty linen left overnight...)
Reception staff extremely rude and unpleasant - when we complained about our room they were utterly indifferent and kept saying things like "you get what you pay for" (we'd paid about €270 per night). Avoid! (unless you like small dark rooms and unpleasant staff)

Hotel price competitive, however bar prices are over the top - probably like most other hotels in Amsterdam centre. Don't use the hotel lounge unless you are on Company expenses.

My only problem with the hotel was that we had booked a double room and ended up with a twin room. The room's window view was of the laundry room!!! The weekend was a belated birthday surprise for me, booked by my girlfriend, and this did spoil the initial surprise when we got to the room.

Quite a distance from the major attractions e.g. Dam Square, Damrak etc. Advisable to get a taxi from the train station rather than walk!
